What you'll do

Our current platform is a bespoke, in-house developed application based on core Microsoft technologies, mainly C# and SQL Server. It is hosted in Azure (PaaS) and uses Azure DevOps pipelines for CI/CD. We will be utilising many other Azure technologies as we iterative and evolve the platform to a full microservices architecture over time.  We currently use several different front-end technologies and this role will be involved in defining our new framework to ensure consistency across all our applications.   

As a Front-End Developer, you will be developing our user-facing applications following agile methodologies and take an active role in shaping the workflow and processes of your cross-functional team. Our current goals are to work together to support and enable both the business teams and the IT development team to deliver a high quality, resilient product to our clients. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, building, maintaining and improving our web applications​
  • Acting as a subject matter expert for front-end development
  • Taking ownership of our user-facing applications - working with our product management team to prioritise new features and support the evolution and long-term direction of our platforms
  • Prototyping and experimentation to help develop our applications to best meet the needs of our users
  • Training and educating non-technical stakeholders and staff, driving front-end technical excellence within the team
  • Writing, reviewing and overseeing the creation of well documented and well-structured code bases that have an agreed level of test coverage
  • Introducing measures to speed up coding efficiency and improving maintainability while reducing the number of potential defects. 

What you'll need

  • A passion for great user experiences
  • Expert in Javascript, HTML and CSS
  • Developing REST based web applications
  • Implementing responsive web pages
  • Test-driven development & frameworks
  • Web application architecture & scalability
  • Agile or Lean software production
  • Experience working with CMSs, in particular Umbraco or Wordpress
  • Experience with UI frameworks and technologies beyond basic JS/HTML/CSS
  • Knowledge or experience of UX or UI design
  • Knowledge of web security best practice
  • Working knowledge of C#
